The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has officially launched its WhatsApp Chatbot Service today, enabling citizens to register complaints and access civic services with ease. This initiative, introduced before the announcement of the new budget, marks a significant step towards digital governance and a paperless administration.

Automated Complaint Registration on WhatsApp

Previously, Surat Municipality had provided a WhatsApp number for grievance redressal, where complaints were manually classified and forwarded to the responsible officers. However, with the launch of the new automated WhatsApp Chatbot Service, citizens can now file complaints directly through WhatsApp at 63599 30020, ensuring faster and more efficient redressal. Once a complaint is registered, it will be directly routed to the relevant department, significantly reducing response time.

Key Features of the SMC WhatsApp Chatbot Service

The newly launched chatbot is not limited to complaint registration but also offers a range of civic services that residents of Surat can access anytime. The key features include:

SMC is also planning to introduce payment services through the WhatsApp chatbot. Once implemented, citizens will be able to pay property tax, water bills, and other charges directly via WhatsApp and receive instant receipts eliminating the need for physical visits to SMC offices.
