In a shocking daylight robbery that took place in the crowded Bhagal Char Rasta area of Surat city, a craftsman carrying valuable gold jewelry for engraving work was assaulted by a group of robbers. The criminals snatched 64 grams of gold jewelry, valued at an estimated Rs 6 lakh, from the craftsman’s pocket and fled the scene in a rickshaw. Despite the boldness of the attack, the thieves managed to escape amidst the heavy traffic in the bustling area, leaving the victim helpless.
Surat Police Step Up Investigation: Chara Gang Suspected
According to initial reports, the police have identified the suspects as members of a notorious gang believed to be operating from Ahmedabad. The Chara gang, which has been active in committing such heists in Gujarat, is suspected of being behind this daring daylight robbery. The robbery took place near the highway, and the robbers’ faces have been caught on CCTV footage, which is currently being reviewed by the Surat police.
A major manhunt has been launched to track down the criminals involved in the heist. The police have set up five dedicated teams, comprising personnel from Vesu, Lalgate, Umra, and Crime Branch, as well as Athava Police. These teams are working tirelessly to gather more leads and make arrests.
