Surat | March 12, 2025 – A massive power outage has paralyzed South Gujarat, leaving cities like Surat, Tapi, Bharuch, Navsari, and Rajpipla in complete shutdown amidst record-breaking heat. With no prior warning, power was suddenly cut off, triggering panic among residents and business owners. Frustrated citizens have gathered outside GEB (Gujarat Electricity Board) and Torrent Power offices, demanding an explanation.

South Gujarat is already under an IMD-issued Yellow Alert for a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring past 40°C in many areas. The sudden blackout has left people gasping for relief.

🔻 Bharuch & Ankleshwar were at 42°C, making it nearly unbearable without cooling appliances.

Several small-scale industries and textile mills in Surat and Bharuch have come to a standstill, with workers waiting for power restoration. Many shops have also closed early, unable to operate without electricity.
🚧 “We were working on urgent orders when suddenly everything shut down. Our machines are useless without power, and we have no idea when it will come back,” said a textile mill owner in Pandesara, Surat.”
