Banaskantha Division Protest Sparks in Surat: Rally Calls for ‘Dhanera Mange Banas’

Banaskantha Division Protest in Surat

The controversy over the division of Banaskantha district has reached Surat, with a rally held to voice opposition against the split. A petition was submitted to the Collector’s office in Surat, accompanied by banners and slogans demanding the retention of Dhanera in Banaskantha. The rally participants, fueled by frustration, emphasized their demand through slogans like “Dhanera Mange Banas“.

The petition highlighted the strong connection between Dhanera taluka and Palanpur. It stressed that Dhanera relies heavily on Palanpur for educational, hospitality, and work-related needs. The recent decision to place Dhanera taluka in the Vav-Tharad division has caused significant inconvenience for the people of Dhanera, as Palanpur remains a more accessible hub for their requirements.

The document urged the government to reconsider the decision, emphasizing the need to respect the sentiments of Dhanera residents and maintain its alignment with Banaskantha. The rally demonstrated growing anger and dissatisfaction among locals who feel ignored by the division.

One prominent leader who submitted the petition, expressed the people’s Pain, stating, “The division of Banaskantha has been done without considering public sentiments. We are demanding that our rights be restored, and the government should act accordingly.”

In addition to the rally in Surat, a general meeting was held in Dhanera taluka to further discuss the matter and plan the next steps in the protest. The petition serves as a formal appeal to reverse the decision and safeguard the interests of the local community.

The movement against the Banaskantha division is gaining momentum, with Surat becoming a new center for protests. The residents remain hopeful that their voices will be heard and justice will be served.
