ABVP protest

Students of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) in Surat City staged a massive protest today under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). The protest was against the Gujarat government’s decision to discontinue the Post Matric Scholarship for SC-ST students admitted under the management quota and the suspension of LLB admissions

Students Block Roads, Chant Slogans Against Government

Hundreds of ABVP activists and university students gathered outside the VNSGU campus, raising slogans like “Remove Anti-Student Government,” “Education is Our Right,” and “Restore Tribal Scholarships.” Protesters blocked roads, causing heavy traffic congestion in parts of Surat City.

ABVP Opposes Cancellation of SC-ST Scholarships

The Gujarat government recently announced that SC-ST students who secure admission under the management quota will no longer be eligible for the Post Matric Scholarship. This policy change will impact more than 50,000 students, depriving them of essential financial aid for their education. ABVP leaders called this decision “anti-student” and demanded an immediate rollback.

Clashes Between Protesters and Police

As tensions escalated, the police arrived at the protest site near VNSGU to control the situation. Clashes broke out between protesting students and the police as officers attempted to disperse the crowd. ABVP leaders warned that if the government does not reverse its decision, they will intensify their protests across Gujarat.

VNSGU Campus on High Alert Amid Student Agitation

The protest at VNSGU has created a tense atmosphere on campus. Students have issued a strong warning to the Gujarat Government, stating that they will not back down until the Post Matric Scholarship is reinstated for SC-ST students. ABVP has also hinted at launching a statewide agitation if their demands are not met.
